It was a wonderful day on Tuesday, when I was fortunate enough to take part in the Year 6 Leadership excursion.  I, Mr Wulff & the students travelled to Mirrabooka Leisure Centre and took part in wheelchair basketball activities. The activities were hosted by Clint from ReboundWA. The students talked with Clint about how he overcame his BMX accident & to embrace his new life in a wheelchair, becoming a successful wheelchair basketballer and golfer.  All the students enjoyed the excursion and quickly got the hang of playing wheelchair basketball, there were some great plays throughout the games.  A big mention to Bianca, who impressed with a 100% shot record in the lay-ups. Well done, Bianca! 

 After the activities, students also had a presentation from Sandi Parsons (West Balcatta PS Librarian) who chatted with the students about the difficulties of living with Cystic-Fibrosis.  Sandi spoke about how she faced many life challenges head on and broke down boundaries set by her doctors and specialists. I, along with the students were very moved by the presentation and I am sure we all took away something to think about.

 The day finished with a trip to Butler McDonalds and a refreshing McFlurry or Ice-cream.

 All the school leadership team have been very impressed with the hard work that its student leadership team has done over 2022, they thoroughly deserved this excursion.  Well done guys!
